Roomlog
In one sentence
Roomlog is a free iPhone and iPad app that uses LiDAR to scan rooms one by one and keep 3D models, layouts and reference photos on your device.
Roomlog is a native iPhone/iPad app. Use a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro to scan rooms one by one: it takes reference photos automatically and builds a 3D mesh you can rotate, check for photo coverage, share as a ZIP over AirDrop, or upload to your own Google Drive.
Your data stays on your device. No account, no ads, and no developer-operated cloud service.
Free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 17 or later).
Use with the open-source 3D Model Anything
The ZIP exports from this app are made for Wes Bos's open-source project 3D Model Anything (github.com/wesbos/3d-model-anything). It includes a Three.js viewer and the scan-to-threejs agent skill, which rebuild your scan into a 3D scene you can walk through (dollhouse, first-person walk, overhead and more).
- In the app, use Share room or upload to Google Drive to get the ZIP.
- Clone the repository and extract the ZIP into
data/captures-in/<room>/. - Open the repository in an agent that supports local skills (for example Claude Code) and ask it to use
scan-to-threejsto rebuild the room. - Run
npm ciandnpm run dev, then openhttp://localhost:5188/play.html?room=<id>&mode=fpvto walk through it.
This is an AI-assisted reconstruction that takes several rounds of checking and fixing — not a one-click conversion. The upstream repository's data/ assets have separate terms (see its ASSETS-LICENSE.md).
FAQ
What is Roomlog?
An app that uses the LiDAR on iPhone Pro or iPad Pro to scan indoor spaces room by room, capturing the layout, a 3D mesh and reference photos that you can review in 3D and share or back up as a ZIP.
Which devices are supported?
Scanning needs a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro with iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. Other iPhones and iPads can import, view and share existing scans.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It's free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no account.
Where are my scans stored?
Only on your device. Data leaves your phone only when you share it or choose to upload it to your own Google Drive; the developer receives nothing.
How do I turn a scan into a 3D scene?
Extract the exported ZIP into data/captures-in in the open-source project 3D Model Anything (github.com/wesbos/3d-model-anything), run its scan-to-threejs skill in an agent that supports local skills (for example Claude Code), then start the Three.js viewer with npm run dev. It's an AI-assisted, iterative process, not a one-click conversion.
What can I export?
A ZIP of a single room, a scan session or a whole house, containing the layout, 3D mesh, photos and depth data — via AirDrop, the share sheet or Google Drive.
How accurate are the measurements?
They are approximate and depend on lighting, motion and surfaces. Verify them before construction or other precision work.
Which languages are available?
The app is available in 37 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, switchable in the app with the globe button.
